Polytechnic for Women is the second Government Polytechnic exclusively for women. It
was established in the year 1986 to encourage women to effectively contribute
towards economic development. The Polytechnic building which is housed in the plot
area
of
37,067.95 square meter of land consists of a spacious Academic Complex, Hostel
Block, Residential Complex, play ground and parking area.. The green belt around the
institution provides a shield against noise and air pollution. Kasturba Polytechnic offers
full-time diploma courses in hi-tech and emerging areas of technology. Kasturba Polytechnic
for Women, under the Department of Training and Technical Education, is the second
Government Polytechnic established exclusively for women in the National Capital Territory
of Delhi. It was originally set up in 1986-87 with the approval of All India Council
for Technical Education (AICTE) as a guest institute in the Meerabai Polytechnic Campus at
Maharani Bagh. The Polytechnic shifted to its own spacious double storeyed building
in 1997. It got the best polytechnic award in northern India in 2003 by TTTI,
Chandigarh and declared the best polytechnic in 2004 by ISTE at National Convention of
Students at Anand, Gujarat.
